Pedalers Tuesday Ride. Lots of flats today, Kim had three and so lots of stopping time. Nice day though.

Hard fast ride for the windy conditions. Tired. Had coffee at the new place near the hardware store. Mom and Pop place, glad to support a new small business.

Pedalers Tuesday ride out to Cross Rd with a climb on Patterson Pass to the Farmhouse.

Got a late start, so instead of the usual 75 miles I've been doing did a metric instead. Very cold in the morning but warmed up nice by the second rest stop in my home town of Port Costa. Nice to see my nephew and his daughter who live across the street from the stop. Since the ride start/end was at St Marys college the final meal of BBQ chicken included 2 pints of a very good craft pale ale. Met up with a few friends from past trips for the meal. Good times.

Pleasanton pedalers Tuesday ride- Dublin-Tassahara-Highland-Collier-Carneal-Highland-Manning-Carneal-Collier-and back the usual way (outlets) for coffee at PEET's. Nice spring day, little wind, fast paced.....

The Recycle Pros Saturday ride had a good turnout of 13 riders today. The forecasted winds stayed down making for an excellent ride. Not sure how many more times we'll be able to do this ride before the heat comes.

P-town pedalers Tuesday ride to Poppy Ridge and home via the Greenville Rd route. Very strong and gusty SW winds made for a cool day and headwinds on the way back. Feeling better than I thought after Sundays century.

Bright sunny day, no wind to speak of, great day for a ride. Was signed up to do the 85 miles but felt good and tacked on an out-and-back climb of Tesla Canyon to give 5,648ft climbing and make it my first Century of the year. The last 25 miles were tough and dropped my average speed from 13.5 to 13.1. This ride plus the other 4 in Paso Robles gave a one week total of 265 miles with 15,865 ft of climbing. Tired!

Final day and tired, so did the short route with 1,261ft of climbing, most of the climb in the first 5 miles. Legs were shot. Ready for a break before the Primavera Century ride this coming Sunday. My 4 day total was, 165 miles, 10,217 ft of climbing in 4 rides.

Out and back ride from San Miguel to Parkfield. The ride consisted of one long climb up to a pass then drop down into Parkfield, The Earthquake Capital of the World. At Parkfield (pop 18) the town opened their only restaurant to feed lunch to our's and another cycling group from Colorado. The meal was delicious hamburgers produced with meat from the local cattle. It was a grind getting back up the pass but 17 miles of coasting back to the start. Good Times!

West side ride that included Chimney Rock and Adelaida Roads. Total of 3 big climbs to give 4,053ft of climbing, thus the low average speed. By the last 15 miles I was dragging and dropped from the group. However it was a fantastic yet challenging day of riding in perfect weather.

Day 1 was a trip out to the east side with lots of rollers. Rode with John, Mike and Caryn. Was feeling strong but used up to much energy that I would regret later in the week. Fortunately the rain stopped and we avoided most of the showers that were passing through.

Rode with the Thursday group out to Poppy Ridge and on the way back cut off and did the climb up Tesla to add about 14 miles. Most of the other group are doing a century on Saturday so were just taking it easy. Hot today at about 84F in Livermore. Temps drop a lot tomorrow and rainy on Saturday.

First day to break 80F with east breezes. Rode out to Livermore and Sycamore Grove, Holdener Park and Mines Rd. Coffee at Story and home the usual way on Vineyard. Broke 1,000 miles for the year today (1,005).

Warm day with little wind and a partial solar eclipse. Took the Iron Horse Trail up to Walnut Creek and surface roads home. Spring is here......

The usual Tuesday Peddlers ride out Calaveras Rd to Sunol Park and then on the way back home added in the climb on Kilcare Rd. The warmest day of the year so far, reaching 75F. Looks like rain again starting Thursday.....

Beautiful spring day to start the month of April. Rode out to check the closure on Tesla Rd in Livermore and found it was still open to bikes! No cars for miles! Need to ride more often. High today of 71F, no wind, finished up with coffee at Story.......

Back with the gang today and rode hard out to Las Trampas and then at about the 35 mile mark a hard climb up to the end of Dublin Blvd. Will sleep good tonight.......

Last ride in Santa Cruz County before heading back home tomorrow. Just beat the rain on the way back from an out and back on Swanton Rd.

My friend John L set up this scenic tour that began and ended in Marina. We first rode along the ocean dunes down to Monterey then Pacific Grove and 17 mile drive. At some point we had a hard climb east over a Ridge, crossed over highway 1 and headed back north and passing by the Monterey Fairgrounds (Jimi!) Then through Fort Ord and back to Marina. Finished up with a cold on at an English microbrewery. Great day and weather, wish I could post some photos....

Out and back from Santa Cruz on a sunny calm morning. On the way back took West Cliff road along the ocean. Lots of surfers and others enjoying the day. Coffee at Verve. Certainly one of my go to places down here.

Rode over to Livermore for afternoon coffee. When I got up to leave my back tire was flat. So this cut into my ride time as I needed to get back home. Oh well, weather is improving for the next week or so.

Best weather of the year thus far and time for a long ride. Started at Geoff's house in Healdsburg and headed south on hwy 128 to Chalk Hill Rd and on down to the Rincon Valley and into downtown Santa Rosa for lunch. Then west to the River again and north on westside and Dry Creek Rds. Had a tail wind but at the turn back to the start the last 8 miles were into a moderate headwind. There was a little over 3,000 ft of climbing, mostly rolling but kept up good speed for such distance early in the year. Still recovering on the day after.

Mostly flat ride in Healdsburg, Windsor and Westside rd in the Russian River Valley with Geoff. Had a great lunch at the RR Brewery which included a pint of on of the world's greatest beers, Pliny the Elder.....

Beautiful, clear, spring-like day with no wind and temps in the low 60's. Wasn't going to ride but finally just had to go. Left around 1pm and did Collier Canyon then Livermore Ave for coffee then headed for home on Vineyard. Sure glad to get out as supposed rain for the next 4 or so days......

P-town Pedalers Tuesday ride was a tough one for me as still weakened from the recent flu. Usually do more than just one solo ride before rejoining the group rides. Stiff headwind all the way to Livermore and I hid out in the group instead of taking a turn at the front. When we hit the minor hills fell way back. Just one of those days......need to get back in shape......

After a 4 day trip over Presidents weekend I got food poisoning and haven't been out on the bike for almost 2 weeks. Today was sunny and finally dragged myself out for a ride. Took it easy and after the first hour was feeling pretty good. Still slow gonna take a bit of time to get back up to full speed but spring is just around the corner.......

P-Town Pedalers Tuesday ride. Couple new guys today, one with a Trek Project 1 e-bike. A bike that I didn't even know was an e-bike until after the ride. Couldn't figure out how the guy could ride so effortlessly compared to my huffing and puffing up the hill.......

Out and back to Sunol Park on a cold, clear morning. First ride this year wearing the winter jacket. Lots of tree limbs in the bike shoulder lanes. Note to self not to ride after a storm in tree covered areas.......

For Bob's birthday the P-town Pedaler's (12 of us started, 4 finished at over 70 miles) rode the Iron Horse Trail, lunch at Hungry Dog in Pleasant Hill then home via the bike lane from Alamo to P-town. Cold and overcast all day though a few drops for the final couple of miles.

Warm winter day with no wind and time to climb Diablo (3800FT in 11 miles). Not in-shape and overweight makes for a long grind to the top but heck, made it in slowest time ever. I guess that would be a personal worst (PW) time. No where to go but up, except down and that will be the next post.

Took it easy on the way down. Hard to believe that my descent speed is nearly as fast as a pro's climbing time. Ouch.......

Fast out-and-back with on today's recycle pros ride. Dead tired........

Rode through the neighborhoods north to Danville for afternoon coffee then headed back on the Iron Horse Trail. Bright sunny day with temps in the high 50's. No wind to speak of.....good times......

Back riding with the group after a long break. Always faster when riding with the group, and tireder (is that a word?). Anyways good times and looks like we are in a little spell of warmer weather......

Warm south wind at my back heading up the canyon made for a easy ride today. Looped around Carneal and Manning Rds to North Livermore Ave and into town for the usual at Story Coffee. Quick trip back home on Concannon to catch the playoff games.......

First long ride of 2024 and first time with long winter jacket and head warmer. Route- Vineyard-Isabel-Tuscany-Sycamore Grove-Del Valle Dam-Holdener Park-Story Coffee Cap- Portola-Collier Canyon-Carneal-Highland Rd-Tassahara- Danville Peet's and Trad Cap- Iron Horse back home via Alamo Creek etc...Cool and overcast all day with cold NE wind.....good times......

Tri-Valley loop ride CW. From home out to Bart then Widemere-Morgan Territory-Collier Canyon- Portola- Coffee at Story- Concannon-Vineyard-Home. Cloudy, no wind and temps in high 50's. Nice to be out and about again. Looking for some sun in the next couple of days.......

Rode the Iron Horse Trail up to Danville for coffee against a stiff North breeze. Smooth sailing on the way back home. Sunny with temps in the high 50's, rain tomorrow......

Spectacular sunny day, no wind and a high of 59F after a week of wet fog and rain. Good start to the new year 2024.
